Moi University Shines in inter-university Marathon

Moi university's Paul Ekiru and Titus Singor won the Moi university inter-campus 10km men marathon in the first and second positions respectively.

The third position was taken by GedionKimutai of University of Eldoret (UOE). The fourth and fifth positions were held by Kibet Dennis of Mt. Kenya University (MKU) and Kipkorir Elijah of Kenyatta university respectively.

In the women 10km marathon race, Cynthia Togom of University of Eldoret (UOE) won the race with a record of 46 16 81. The second position was taken by Sharon Kibor of UoE with Blessings Chepkembei of MKU taking position three.




The championship brought together several universities among which was Mt. Kenya University (MKU), University of Eldoret (UOE), Kenyatta University (KU), Bomet University collage among others. The marathon aimed at bringing the universities together to come up with a team that present the region in the UOE open championship that will be held on 21st October at the University of Eldoret. The team will also represent the region in the international young athletes’ championship at Switzerland within the year.
Esther Wasike, the director of sports moi university  Students governing Councel (SGC), had officially opened the challenge with a 2km run. She finished the race at position two behind Esther Muthoni of Moi University who was in position One.
